Club History

In the mid 1970′s, our long-time members recalled dancing with a group that would become the Sound Steppers.  At that time they danced at the YMCA with Bill Craney calling.  It was a time when square dancing was popular and 6 nights a week you could dance locally with a dozen squares.  The club moved to the Alexandra Public School in 1988, a new start was undertaken with caller Jean Carr.  Don Edgar also called near the end of Jean’s career.  Charley McClure took over and graced us with his talent and wit until he retired in 2013.  Under Charley’s tenure, the club enjoyed dancing at the Basic through A levels.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2013.

Today our caller is Neva McVittie and along with her husband Duncan, they provide a fun-filled evening of entertaining dance including rounds and mixers.
